John Blyth
Here's a wonderful tribute to my late father from one of his ex-students. It's always good to be reminded how great an impact a good teacher can have on students, an impact that can last a lifetime.

"I just found out yesterday from David about your father's passing. I would have wanted to attend the service, and am sorry that I was unable. However, I just wanted to share that your father was my 8th grade science teacher at Marston Jr. High in 1978. And even today, 35 years later, your father still holds a special and important part that is front and center in my life.

"Specifically, his wonderful demeanor, encouragement and enthusiasm for teaching science was a HUGE factor for why I am a scientist today. I still remember my class experience all those years ago as if it were just yesterday, all with good memories. I still remember the first time of learning the scientific method (the whole foundation of science) from your father, and that has completely shaped the person I am today; still interested to learn the mysteries of the universe. So beyond remembering your father as a kind, understanding and encouraging human being, he also imparted ineffable qualities to other people. So I just wanted to say that your father lives on. Not just in his immediate family, but also in disparate people like me (and I'm certain others). He made a difference when leaving his footprints in this world. And I, for one, am glad that I walked in a few of them." -- George Goss
